GED Video Welcome
Adult Basic Education (ABE), a program of Alexandria Community Education, offers day, evening and online learning classes. You must be at least 17 years old, not enrolled in K-12 public or private school and lack basic academic skills in reading, writing, speaking and /or mathmatics in order to be eligible for ABE services. Classes are flexible and self-paced for improving basic reading, writing, math, and life skills. Preparation classes for diploma, Work Keys and Accuplacer tests are also offered.

Transition to Employment: A free online preparation program for the National Career Rediness Certificate is available to job seekers, along with a free computerized assessment to identify their skill levels in work-related math and reading skills.
College Rediness & Accuplacer Prep: In partnership with the Alexandria Technical & Community College, a free non-credit 48-hour Computer Writing Course is offered to help students develop the skills and knowledge essential for college success. A free online learning program for Accuplacer preparation is also offered. Access this program via this link:
English as a Second Language (ESL) & Citizenship: Students whose native language is not English can attend English as a Second Language classes to improve their English speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. Preparation for the US Citizenship Exam is also offered.
Tutoring for Adults: One-to-one tutoring is available for adults working on basic reading, writing, and math skills through the Alexandria Literacy Project.
