A Comp Overview

    Q-Comp was enacted through a bipartisan agreement in the Minnesota Legislature in July 2005. It is a voluntary program that allows local districts and exclusive representatives of the teachers to design and collectively bargain a plan that meets the five components of the law.

    The five components under Q-Comp include Career Ladder/Advancement Options, Job-embedded Professional Development, Teacher Evaluation, Performance Pay, and an Alternative Salary Schedule.

    Alexandria Public Schools will receive $169 per student for the program in 16-17.  The board can choose to levy an additional $91 per student in future years.

    The program, titled A Comp in Alexandria, was approved by the Board and Education MN Alexandria in early 2016.

    Teachers have the ability to earn incentive pay up to $1,250.  The breakdown is as follows:

    • $50     Achievement of Site Goal set by BLT
    • $100   Implementation of Student Learning Goal for executing plan - with your PLC Team
    • $150   PLC Participation and Engagement  -  tracking of attendance and minutes of 45/minutes per week
    • $950   Demonstrate Proficiency in at least 6 components: $950  -  through observation process using Danielson Framework
